Setting Up Your Business Profile

How to configure your advertiser profile, brand info, and target audiences on Tap.

Overview#

Your business profile is the foundation of your Tap experience. It tells publishers who you are, what your brand looks like, and who you want to reach. A complete profile also helps Tap's AI deliver better campaign recommendations tailored to your industry, audience, and goals.

This guide walks you through every section of your profile setup — from basic company details to team invitations.

Why Your Profile Matters#

Your business profile serves several purposes on Tap:

  • Publisher trust — Media suppliers review your profile when evaluating proposals. A complete, professional profile increases your acceptance rate.
  • AI-powered recommendations — The more Tap knows about your brand and audience, the better its media planning suggestions become.
  • Creative generation — Brand assets like logos, colors, and descriptions feed directly into Tap's AI creative tools, producing on-brand ad copy and visuals.
  • Team collaboration — Profiles support multiple team members with role-based access, so your entire marketing team can work in one place.

Advertisers with complete profiles receive up to 40% more relevant AI recommendations. Fill out every section to get the most out of Tap's planning tools.

Setting Up Your Profile#

Navigate to your business profile

From your dashboard, click your avatar or company name in the top-left corner and select Business Profile from the dropdown menu. If this is your first time, you'll be guided through a setup wizard.

Enter your company details

Fill in the basics:

  • Company name — Your legal business name or DBA
  • Industry — Select your primary industry (e.g., Retail, Healthcare, Technology, Food & Beverage)
  • Company size — Approximate number of employees
  • Website — Your primary company URL
  • Location — Your headquarters address

These details help publishers understand who they're working with and help Tap match you with relevant media platforms.

Add your brand assets

Upload and configure the visual identity of your brand:

  • Logo — Upload a high-resolution logo (SVG or PNG recommended, minimum 512x512px)
  • Brand colors — Add your primary and secondary brand colors using hex codes (e.g., #1A2B3C)
  • Brand description — Write a short paragraph (2-3 sentences) describing your brand, its values, and its positioning

These assets are used when Tap generates creative concepts, ad copy, or visual previews for your campaigns.

Define your target audiences

Set up one or more audience profiles that describe the people you want to reach:

  • Audience name — Give each audience a descriptive label (e.g., "Young Professionals," "Parents 35-54")
  • Age range — Set minimum and maximum age brackets
  • Gender — Select target gender demographics or choose "All"
  • Household income — Define income brackets relevant to your product or service
  • Interests and behaviors — Tag relevant interests like "Sports," "Technology," "Health & Wellness," or "Travel"
  • Geographic focus — Specify the markets or regions most important to this audience

You can create multiple audience profiles for different products, campaigns, or brand segments.

Configure billing and payment

Set up your payment method so you can activate campaigns without delays:

  • Payment method — Add a credit card or connect a bank account via Stripe
  • Billing address — Enter the address associated with your payment method
  • Billing contact — Designate who receives invoices and payment notifications
  • Budget defaults — Optionally set default monthly or quarterly budget caps

Campaigns cannot be activated until a valid payment method is on file. Set this up early to avoid delays when you're ready to launch.

Invite your team members

Bring your team onto Tap so everyone can collaborate on campaigns:

  • Click Team in the sidebar, then Invite Member
  • Enter the team member's email address
  • Assign a role:
    • Admin — Full access to all settings, billing, and campaigns
    • Manager — Can create and manage campaigns, but cannot modify billing or company settings
    • Viewer — Read-only access to campaigns and reports

Invited members receive an email with a link to join your organization. They can sign in using SSO if your company has it configured.

Brand Guidelines Best Practices#

Getting your brand information right from the start saves time later. Here are some tips:

Logo Requirements#

  • Use a transparent background (PNG or SVG)
  • Provide both a full logo and an icon/mark version if available
  • Minimum resolution of 512x512 pixels for best results across all placements
  • Avoid logos with excessive whitespace around the edges

Brand Colors#

  • Add at least a primary and secondary color
  • If your brand uses specific colors for calls-to-action or highlights, include those as well
  • Tap uses these colors when generating ad creative, email templates, and campaign reports

Brand Description#

Write your brand description as if introducing your company to a publisher for the first time. Include:

  • What your company does
  • Who your customers are
  • What makes your brand unique

A strong description helps Tap's AI generate ad copy that sounds authentically like your brand.

Managing Target Audiences#

Target audiences are central to how Tap plans campaigns. The platform uses your audience definitions to:

  • Recommend media platforms that reach your desired demographics
  • Estimate reach and frequency based on audience overlap with platform listenership or viewership
  • Optimize budget allocation across markets and channels
  • Score proposals to show which publisher offerings best match your audience

Creating Effective Audience Profiles#

  • Be specific — "Women 25-44 interested in fitness" is more useful than "General consumers"
  • Create separate profiles for distinct customer segments rather than one broad audience
  • Update regularly — As your business evolves, revisit and refine your audience definitions
  • Use Tap's suggestions — After running a few campaigns, Tap may suggest new audience segments based on performance data

Reviewing Your Profile Completeness#

Tap shows a profile completeness indicator on your dashboard. Aim for 100% by filling out:

SectionImpact
Company detailsRequired for proposals
Brand assetsImproves AI creative output
Target audiencesEnables smart recommendations
Billing infoRequired for campaign activation
Team membersEnables collaboration

Each section contributes to the overall quality of your Tap experience. Publishers can see your company details and brand assets when reviewing your proposals, so a polished profile makes a strong first impression.

Team Roles and Permissions#

Choosing the right role for each team member keeps your account secure while enabling collaboration. Here's a detailed breakdown of what each role can do:

Admin#

Admins have full control over the account. This role is best suited for marketing directors, account owners, or anyone who needs to manage billing and settings.

  • Create, edit, and delete campaigns
  • Manage billing and payment methods
  • Invite and remove team members
  • Edit the business profile and brand assets
  • Access all reports and analytics
  • Approve or reject proposals

Manager#

Managers can do most things an Admin can, except modify billing or account-level settings. This is the right role for campaign managers and media planners.

  • Create, edit, and delete campaigns
  • Define and update target audiences
  • Submit proposals to publishers
  • Access all reports and analytics
  • Upload creative assets

Viewer#

Viewers have read-only access. This role works well for executives, clients, or stakeholders who need visibility without editing capabilities.

  • View campaigns and their status
  • Access reports and analytics
  • View the media plan and budget breakdowns

Updating Your Profile#

You can update any section of your profile at any time:

  1. Go to Business Profile from the sidebar or avatar menu
  2. Click the section you want to edit
  3. Make your changes and click Save

Changes to brand assets (logo, colors, description) will apply to future creative generation but won't retroactively update existing campaign materials.

Frequently Asked Questions#

Can I have multiple brands under one account?#

Yes. Tap supports multiple brand profiles within a single organization. Each brand can have its own logo, colors, description, and target audiences. Switch between brands from the profile selector in the sidebar.

What happens if I skip the audience setup?#

You can still create campaigns without defining audiences, but Tap's AI recommendations will be less targeted. The planner works best when it understands who you're trying to reach.

Can I change my payment method later?#

Absolutely. Navigate to Business Profile > Billing to add, remove, or update payment methods at any time. Active campaigns will automatically use the updated payment method for future charges.

How do I remove a team member?#

Go to Team in the sidebar, find the member you want to remove, and click the three-dot menu next to their name. Select Remove from Organization. Their access is revoked immediately, but any campaigns or changes they made remain intact.

Your profile is set up and ready to go. Now you can start planning campaigns with confidence, knowing that Tap's AI has the context it needs to deliver great recommendations.
