Connecting Claude Desktop
Use Claude Desktop as your AI media-planning assistant via Tap's MCP integration.
Overview#
Claude Desktop can connect to Tap via MCP (Model Context Protocol), giving you an AI assistant that can search Tap's marketplace, build plans, and pull pricing — directly inside your Claude conversation.
If you haven't set up the MCP server yet, start with the installation guide. You only need to configure it once.
What you can do#
Tap is an all-media platform with TV inventory live today (radio, CTV, podcast, OOH, DOOH, digital news, and streaming audio coming soon). With Claude connected to Tap, you can:
- Search inventory — "Find TV stations in the Chicago DMA reaching adults 25–54"
- Compare platforms — "Compare reach and CPM for these three TV stations"
- Build plans — "Create a TV plan with $50,000 budget targeting women 25–54 across Texas"
- Get strategic input — "What's a sensible TV media mix for a launch in the Phoenix DMA?"
Example workflows#
Quick market research#
"Show me all available TV inventory in the Dallas–Fort Worth DMA
with audience data for adults 18–49"
Claude searches Tap's inventory and returns options with pricing and audience metrics.
AI-powered planning#
"I need a 4-week TV campaign in Los Angeles. Budget is $25,000.
Target audience is women 25–54. Suggest stations and a flight schedule."
Plan optimisation#
"Review my current TV plan and suggest ways to improve reach
while staying within budget."
Best practices#
- Be specific — include budget, audience, geography, and goal in every brief
- Iterate — ask follow-ups to refine; Claude keeps context across the conversation
- Verify — always sanity-check AI suggestions against your campaign goals
- Save plans — when Claude builds something good, save it to Tap so you can finalise and book in the planner
Troubleshooting#
If Claude can't reach Tap tools:
- Check the MCP indicator in Claude Desktop — it should show Tap as connected
- Confirm your API key is valid (Profile → API Keys in Tap)
- Restart Claude Desktop
- Check Claude Desktop logs (Help → Show Logs)
Claude + Tap turns media planning into a conversation. Try it on your next campaign.
